"We came, we saw, we kicked its ass!" While that may have been Bill Murray's quote from the movie Ghostbusters, it certainly applied to this year's concert tour with most of the original bandmates in tow. This summer, Van Halen ruled.
I recently wrote a thing or two about my boys…yes, my boys. The one and only musical group I followed since its debut in 1978 and still going strong some 37 years later. I loved these guys so much, I picked up a guitar, wore bandanas, had big hair (of course that was the style back then), snapped up all their albums, and wore out my cassette tapes as I drove around town.
I remember going to Van Halen concerts in the early '80's when they allowed general seating which meant, no seats on floor level, you stand…I remember people around my age and all caucasian. The wildness and raw energy that permeated the arena from stage to crowd…people intoxicated…naked women passed overhead of the crowd. Fast forward 37 years and I'm surrounded by nearly every race on this planet, ages six to 75 years, from rednecks to upper class. It isn't the raw, wild energy from the '80's, but an ever-increasing appreciation of an AWESOME American classic rock band who still has the musical chops and swagger that appeals to a much broader audience through 2015.
A long strange trip it's been.
Guitar World leaked that in this June's issue, Eddie Van Halen makes the front cover! I've already seen the cover…with all Eddie has been through, he looks better than ever…oh, right…there's an interview, too.
The June issue will be available April 28, 2015.
You know Summer is around the corner when our guys hit the road! The mighty Van Halen will be touring the U.S. this Summer through October with their Tokoyo Dome tour…and seats have been snapped up in record time. If you haven't got tickets by now, good luck…you'll need it!
Find out if the boys are coming to your neck of the woods and buy a copy of their "Live from Tokoyo Dome" album or CD at their official site: Van-Halen.com
A poignant interview about the Van Halen's lives and their American dreams realized with an open panel discussion from the What It Means To Be American series. Enjoy!

Ran across a really great interview where David Lee Roth reveals the band's humble beginnings to living a rocker's crazy life. A real treat to hear their stories. Enjoy, I did!
